Roots & Pages is a book club dedicated to amplifying the voices of women authors.

We want to create a space where readers can engage in meaningful discussions and celebrate diverse narratives.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ROOTS & PAGES

  • One Book a month
Carefully selected titles by women, and voices from the diaspora, across fiction, nonfiction, and memoir.

  • A safe & welcoming space
Whether you’re a seasoned reader or just getting into books again, all are welcome. Come as you are.

  • Preserving the sacred act of reading
In a world of shortcuts and AI summaries, we choose to slow down, honor deep reading, and protect our attention as a radical, human act.

  • In-Person meetups in Berlin
We’ll meet monthly at One More Chapter, a cozy Bookbar in Frierdrichshain, to discuss, reflect, and connect over a cup of coffee, tea or glass of wine.

  • Real conversations, not book reports
This isn’t school! Expect honest conversations, laughter, reflections, and room to be yourself.

  • More than a book club
We’re here to read, but also to meet each other, hear each other, and build something together.

First meet up: July 20th 2025

Join ROOTS & PAGES

If you are interested in joining the book club, want more details as well as stay updated about upcoming news.

We’ve officially launched a Telegram group chat for Roots & Pages!

This will be our cozy little corner to:

  • Stay updated on meetups, book picks, and events

  • Share thoughts, quotes, or questions as we read

  • Connect with fellow readers from Berlin and beyond

Whether you’re coming to the festival in July, following along from afar, or just want to feel more connected to the club, you’re welcome.

No pressure to talk all the time. Just presence. Just energy. Just the kind of soft, grounded space we’re building together.

(You’ll need the Telegram app to join. It’s free, quick, and keeps everything tidy.)

roOTS & PAGES
First Pick

Set in pre-colonial Ghana, this powerful novel follows two women whose lives intersect across class and power, ancestry and agency. It’s a story of womanhood, war, and what it means to reclaim your voice… all the themes we love to explore together.

And the best part? The author will be present at the African Book Festival (@abfberlin) in Berlin in July!

(Or find it wherever you like to usually buy books... but we always encourage supporting independent bookstores whenever you can!)

THE FOUNDER

I’m Solène, host of A SEAT WITH ME podcast and the reader behind ROOTS & PAGES bookclub. Always been an avid reader, my goal with this book club is to foster community around literature and centre women and womxn voices.
Through reading, we learn, and through sharing, we grow. While we center our discussions around literature, our true focus is on the people who gather, connect, and share experiences. ROOTS & PAGES is about creating a space where we meet, see, learn from one another and hear each other, fostering genuine relationships and meaningful conversations. Through books, we build bridges, and through community, we create a home.

Glad you are here 💛
